- About Me:
- I was born in the year that USSR had collapsed- 1991, and have been living in the Great city; Saint-Petersburg as a child, surrounded by Tsar’s palaces, baroque architecture, ballet and khohloma. I was also surrounded by grim politics and confusing reality of post-communist Russia, which as a child I found rather fun and free. My father is a man of great knowledge, therefore a University of Nottingham had noticed his excellent works in mathematics and computer science, they invited him to England to write his PhD. Furthermore, I migrated to Nottingham at the age of 10. The move- I’ve found the biggest change and challenge of my life due to contrast of cultures of these two cities. Nottingham- a rather small, common British city in the midlands with two big shopping centres, drinking pubs and significantly less cultural treasures than Saint Petersburg, yet there I gained a vast love for bass music and DJ culture- which really feels like the youth movement of my generation (hippies in the 60s, punks in the 80s, bassheads in the millenium?). I have become very familiar with both English and Russian cultures, able to tell political and social reasons for such great difference, from hereon I have a distinct interest in human behaviour, questioning the world around me and finding answers in history, psychology and philosophy. Furthermore I finished school and then A levels in Math, Art and Media, followed by Art Foundation course in New College Nottingham. I went on to study Fashion Design & Technology at London College of Fashion, finding myself back home in the realm of a big city.
