- Sérgio Avlis, from Rio de Janeiro Brazil, came to the U.S. when he was only 12 years old. He developed a passion for fashion at a young age following in the footsteps of his grandfather, an accomplished fashion designer in Brazil. Sérgio always felt the need to express his ideals and beliefs but was always labeled as a freak. As the years passed by, Sérgio started more and more becoming his own person, not putting his beliefs or even ideas to the side, but expressing the way he wanted to. Fashion for Sérgio is art. It's more than just a career, but his way of life. Everyone expresses themselves differently. Sérgio chooses fashion to push boundaries and shock individuals.
