Comment by Melissa Coleman on January 13, 2012 at 1:58am Prosthetics are also being 3D printed (or maybe still in development, am not sure) in fablabs, bringing low cost but high quality prosthetics to developing countries, essentially democratising them.
Comment by Melissa Coleman on January 13, 2012 at 1:46am I'd never seen this ted talk. Very cool. I saw Star Wars over the holidays and had completely forgotten that Luke Skywalker gets a prosthetic hand half way through the story. The hand was made to mimic a normal hand perfectly, which says a lot about society's views on prostethics and the ideal body.
Comment by Syuzi on January 11, 2012 at 5:15pm I adore the Ted talks. I always watch them when I need a little motivation or inspiration. Glad you enjoyed!
Comment by goli on January 11, 2012 at 4:56pm The Aimee Mullins talk is *so* inspirational, and my mind is reeling from the implications. Thank you!
