I am thrilled to announce that Alison Lewis, from iheartswitch.com, has just released Switch Craft, a new book that merges craft + technology. (yay! the genre is growing!)

The projects in Switch Craft will delight any techno-fashionta. They are not only hip and stylish but cleverly simple to make. For the technically timid, Alison walks you through how to hack into existing gadgets and incorporate them into fun and fashionable projects. How simple you ask? There is not a resistor in sight!

Two of my favorite projects are the Gadget Gloves and Shiny Clutch. The Gadget Gloves are a pair of gloves with small patches of conductive thread sewn on the the thumb and forefinger, enabling you to use touch screen devices that work via capacitive sensing (such as the Iphone or Ipod Touch).

The Shiny Clutch is a purse, when opened, lights-up and reveals a hidden message.

For those of you more into home decor, the Cushion Brite is a fun, quirky project — the cushion illuminates when you sit on it.
