Elena Corchero, a designer who melds craft with technology, has recently launched her online boutique Lost Values. Her shop carries e-textile kits and products ranging from toys to unique fashions.

My personal favorite is the Solar Vintage Fan constructed from flexible solar panels, LED lights, lace and embroidery. I love the aesthetics of the decorative circuit board juxtaposed with the texture of the embroidery. The concept behind the piece is quite simple: the object functions as a hand fan by day and portable light by night.

Elena delicately infuses the old (hand fan) with the new (flexible solar technology) to create an object pregnant with meaning and rich in history.
