Mouna Andraos's Winter Quilts are a beautiful blend of traditional crafts and technology. Using e-textiles and soft circuit construction methods, Andrao's developed a set of three quilts that sense and respond to their environment.

The three large electronic blankets, inspired by the Canadian winter, were developed as a public art installation.

Graphic patterns on the quilts are silkscreened using photochromic inks so they appear during daylight and disappear at night. In the evening, the graphic patterns are replaced with a pattern of flickering lights. Animated by the wind, strips of conductive fabric trigger the lights to switch on and off (I believe).

The third quilt is an interactive gaming quilt with dangling mittens created using conductive fabric swatches. I'm not quite sure what the game is but the kids certainly look like they're having fun!
