Designed by artist Amor Munoz, Esquemáticos are a series of beautiful hand-embroidered schematics — sewn with conductive thread and electronic components — that "work" as functional machines.
Each installation emits sound and/or light depending on the call for interaction. For example, the 555 embroidery creates a soundscape in response to graphite scribbles. My personal favorite is the Heart Rate Sensor that simply pulses an LED (and speaker) to the rhythm of the user's heart rate.
Munoz's project poetically captures the essence of "soft circuits." She beautifully uses craft and the handmade to transform mundane analogue circuits into something quite magical.
I think one of these tapestries would be quite lovely in my studio.
