LilyPad XBee—Creating Wireless Wearable Communication Systems

Now not only can your clothes sense but they can also communicate with each other. I am THRILLED that the tools to create wearables is rapidly expanding and the latest is the LilyPad XBee.

Co-developed by Kate Harman & Rob Fauldi, the LilyPad XBee is a new sewable and wearable radio available now from Sparkfun. It can be paired with a variety of sensors and output devices to create complete wireless wearable systems.

So what can you make with the XBee? How about a pair of the Xbee Ninja Wireless Gloves.

Wireless Wearable


Made with a Lilypad Xbee, an XBee radio, a 9v battery and an LED, the wireless gloves secretly communicate morse code to each other. Watch the video below for a preview.
