Machine Felted Tilt Sensor

Adrian Freed, a research director at UC Berkeley's Center for New Music & Audio Technologies (CNMAT) has created a felted tilt sensor using Eeonyx conductive felt. The conductive felt was felted on a non-conductive fabric using an HUSQVARNA VIKING® ER10™ embellishing machine.

I love the idea of using a felting machine (combined with a laser cutter) to quickly prototype e-textile switches and sensors. The potential to create intricate and decorative sensors is remarkable and still relatively unexplored.

I'm looking forward to seeing further felted e-textile explorations.
