Nike hacks into their own Nike Free Run+ shoes transforming them into musical instruments for a new ad campaign. The ad highlights the new flexible sole which is used as a controller for the audio.

The reason I'm posting this is because I enjoy the fact that hacker culture and DIY Culture is slowly infiltrating into the mainstream.

Daito Manabe worked on this project so I have a good feeling that it "works" and is not just faked — but of course I don't know for sure.

i'm still a bit skeptical on this one. i'd like to see the specs of their diy set up documented. how did they put the sensors so far deep into the flex part of the shoe without destroying the wearability? i'm not saying it's not possible, just that they need to show us more on how it was done since anybody can in theory fake this.

there's obviously some sample playback involved although all you see are traditional mixers and shoes. they could be faking it, or even portions of it via edits, for all we know.
