"+/-" Silk-screened Electronic Plate

These beautiful plate designs by Ami Drach & Dov Ganchrow fuse the craft of ceramics with electronics resulting in a set of lovely "hot plates." Silk-screened with gold or Amorphic Metal Films, a power source can be connected to the plates and a current run through the metallic pattern thereby generating heat to keep your food warm.

Why is this important?
Needless to say, I am always thrilled to find new visual explorations of how craft can intersect with technology. The merging of the craft of ceramics with electronics is a relatively unexplored area. I would love to see more artists and crafters working with ceramics explore ideas and concepts of how to integrate decoration with electronics. For example, I can imagine decorative silk-screened capacitance sensors on ceramic lamps as novel controls.
