Social Knitworking & Reflective Knitwear

Social Knitworking

Social Knitworking is another fabulous project to come out of the distance lab in Scotland. Developed by designer Hilary Grant and chief executive/research director of distance lab Stefan Agamanolis, Social Knitworking creates a tangible artifact out of our intangible online interactions by analyzing online textual interactions and translating the "conversational patterns" into knitwear.

Social

The conversational patterns are determined by events such as the frequency of used phrases or sentiments,
emotional characteristics, and other features. The end result is a physical knitted keepsake that encourages the owner:

"to examine the pattern and make their own interpretation on how it relates to their long-distance friendships."

I gotta say I love the name of this project — not to mention all the adorable hand drawn illustrations by Hilary Grant. Find more info on the Social Knitworking project here.

Reflective Knitwear

Another lovely project by Hilary Grant is this amazing reflective knitted sweater made from reflective yarn.
