Weaving non-conductive yarns with metal wire, the smart textile craftsmen from PlugandWear have created a prototype of a soft and flexible textile breadboard for prototyping soft circuits.

The fabric has a 2.54 mm pitch (the same one you find on standard breadboards) so you can attach components, even IC's, by either soldering or sewing. The materials were specifically designed to be soldered onto without any concern of burning or ruining the fabric.


Although it is currently being described as a "breadboard," it is perhaps more accurate to call it a textile perfboard. Unlike a breadboard, the circuit prototype is a bit more permanent since it involves soldering and sewing. Either way, it's a fantastic new tool to add to your soft circuit toolbox.
