Wearable Forest by Ryoko Ueoka and Hiroki Kobayashi was THE highlight of this year's Siggraph as far as wearables are concerned. This poetic piece of"bio-acoustic" clothing is networked with a subtropical forest of the southern Ryukyu Islands of Japan. The garment, outfitted with embedded speakers, LEDs, an embedded CPU system, and a wireless
connection, processes and remotely plays the soundscape of the jungle. The LEDs create patterns on the dress, reflecting the activity level of the life there at the moment. The brighter the light, the more active the creatures.

Sensors, found on the collar, also let the user transmit pre-recorded acoustic data back to the forest installation, creating a bioacoustical loop.
